The joy of getting away from it all

Finding Peace

I sought a little time to be alone
And found a sheltered cove beside the sea
And lay down for a while with book and phone
At ease with my remote tranquillity
But knowing well that calls would spoil my time
My phone in silent mode I put away
And settled down to read my book of rhyme
And wallow in the wordiness at play
But soon the water lapping on the sand
Beguiled me with its heartbeat of the tide
And someone somewhere took me by the hand
And led me to the rippling waterside
And there I stood in still and silent trance
In thrall to nature's joyful elegance
