Dozing in the sunshine...

Summer Sounds

Summer Sounds

I wake from summer snooze so deep
That dreams don't infiltrate my mind
And shake my muzzy head awake
And blink my bleary eyes to find

A bee is buzzing round my head
So close, so sonorous and loud
Like kamikazes in the sky
Like thunder rolling in the clouds

Beyond the garden fence a roar
As motor bikes forge fast and clear
And puncture up our precious peace
And shatter sound waves in the air

Is that a song I hear close by
Or is it music in my head
The wafting sounds of lullabies
The smallest children off to bed

The trickle from our fountain's flow
Builds bubbles on the water's plain
A soothing sound, a peace I know
I think I'll go asleep again.
